What is rebound? What is the reason for rebound when the sheet metal is bent?
During the bending deformation process, the material itself is inevitably accompanied by elastic deformation in addition to plastic deformation. When the external force is removed after bending, the elastic deformation part will immediately recover, causing the bending angle and radius of the bent part to change and no longer conform to the shape of the mold. This phenomenon is called the rebound or rebound phenomenon of the bent part.



The rebound of V-shaped components is smaller because the bottom of U-shaped components undergoes tensile deformation during bending, resulting in smaller rebound. When the slot of the lower mold is shallow or narrow, the rebound is large, while when the slot is wide or deep, the rebound is small.
