What Is Roll Forming?
Roll forming is a metal forming process where metal sheets or rolls are bent into longitudinal and uniform profiles using specialized tools. This process progressively bends sheet metal into the desired shape using cold forming, which doesn't require heating the metal. The bending radius in roll forming is determined by the material characteristics of the metal plate and can complete 180-degree bends. This method provides strict tolerances for complex profiles and can integrate welding, laser cutting, and other secondary processes into a production line.
Roll forming machines come in two types: single-task roll forming machines, which gradually bend specific sections by connecting the profile with the spindle, and standard roll forming machines, which are easy to operate, allowing the operator to remove the spindle easily. Additionally, there are parallel machines that can be equipped with various rolling tools.
